FAGOR ARRASATE BEGINS WORK AT ITS NEW PLANT IN CHINA, FAGOR METALFORMING MACHINE TOOL (KUNSHAN) Co. Ltd. (FMMTK)
Fagor Arrasate continues to make sound progress in the international expansion that has already made it one of the world’s leading firms in the metal forming for machine tools field. With sales approaching two hundred million euros and installations at all the large automotive manufacturers and steel or metal component plants in seventy different countries, Fagor Arrasate is a basic reference point in this sector today.
In August, the Spanish firm opened its new plant located near Shanghai. The new factory is in the town of Kunshan, on an industrial estate where other prestigious companies’ facilities also have their base.
It stands on a 20,580 m2 plot, with a built-up area of 6,500 m2 including three 22 x 81 m assembly plants, with an assembly pit of 25 x 6 x 8 m and lifting capacity possibilities of 150 +150 tons. A future extension of another 50 metres in length and a new two-storey office building are also in the pipeline.
Key areas such as quality and engineering are directly controlled by experts from Fagor who have travelled to the new plant.
With this new factory, Fagor Arrasate can now provide the market and its customers with a number of advantages, including:
a)     A significant production capacity increase that will enable it to build more facilities in response to the major demand.
b)     A greater ability to supply the entire Asian and Australian market, with improved delivery periods and prices.
c)      An improvement in delivery times as a result of greater resources.
d)     A stable, constant presence on the major Chinese market.
e)     The possibility of manufacturing even bigger presses and large steel processing units at a spacious, modern plant.

Practically at the same time, the extension of Fagor Arrasate’s main factory at its base in Mondragón has also begun functioning. With 5800 m2 more factory buildings, new high-capacity cranes and larger pits for press assembly, the company is adapting to new trends and to the large installations it will begin to deliver in a few months’ time.
Fagor Arrasate’s world-scale customers include: Volkswagen, Ford, Mitshubishi, Arcelor Mittal, ThyssenKrupp, Corporación Gestamp, Benteler, TISCO, OMK, Acerinox, Baosteel.
